Citidisk CFR Flash Recorder
Bruce A Johnson | 04/13
They Are On The Flash Memory Bandwagon…and More
I’ve reviewed a lot of non-tape recording “solutions” in the past - some good, some lame. It’s good to see Citidisk moving ahead in this space.
The Citidisk CFR is a 6-ounce flash memory recorder. Using UDMA flash memory, it can record in the DV, DV50, HDV and DV100 codecs for five hours on one charge. A two-line LCD lets you know what’s going on while you record. List price is around $570 (without media.)
That’s pretty cool, but also being shown in the Shining booth was this:

This is a prototype of the VC102, which records to removable Maxell data cartridges. Not many details were available, but it seems that this unit will have most of the same capabilities of the CFR. It is supposed to be released in Summer 2010. For more info, check out www.shining.com.
