Adobe Premiere Pro 3D Stereoscopic Realtime Editing

dhelmly aka DavTechTable | 07/14

In this 7 part series, Dave Helmly walks you through a complete 3D Stereo workflow with Premiere Pro CS5.

I’ve created a start-to-finish workflow on how you can create a 3D stereoscopic workflow in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 using complementary tools that are on the market today. It’s a must see for anyone getting started with 3D Stereo. This seven-part series covers Active, Passive and Anaglyph viewing as well how to play your videos on a consumer 3D TV. It’s a ton of information so I broke up the series into bite-sized pieces. Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy!—Dave

Thanks for the excellent workflow with regards to Cineform.

While Cineform is great for ease of use and particularly the First Light / Tangent device, Stereoscopic 3D even without Cineform is excellent in CS5!

here’s a related article on building an NLE and Di suite that will give the big boys something to think about: http://realvision.ae/blog/2010/05/a-realtime-4k-stereo-3d-movie-editing-and-di-suite-for-under-5000/

clydeD (realvision) While I agree with you that the hardware you mention + CS5 can do the job, in the “below 5K” gear you quote you are not taking into account the costly RAID HD you need to work with 2K files, no to mention 4K.
That should add a hefty figure over your estimate.

Hi Daniel, It’s true if your looking at editing a feature length movie, you can never have enough storage space (Even non Raid).

The article included just 1TB of storage. That is really at the low-end, but as a sort of “starter pack” for realtime 4K editing.

Overall your correct, that Storage space will grow and with it the price. This is true for any premium priced NLE system as well.

Regards,
Clyde

NAB 2012: Assorted Snapshots

A few cool things I saw at the show that didn’t fit into any other articles.

NAB is too big a show in too short a time to see more than a fraction of it. I’ve covered a few things in some depth (as have other PVC folks), but there’s plenty more that slips by without proper coverage. Here, I have a few photos…
