As PVC grows, we’ll compare to some of the existing websites serving this market. Here’s Videography.com compared to PVC according to Alexa. Is Alexa the best resource out there? Well, not really but it does allow us to compare us to other sites on an apples-to-apples basis.

Similarly Trafficestimate.com shows Videography’s last 30 days traffic to be 32,200 vs. PVC 51,500.

Videography has been around, well forever and regarded by many as one of the best resources out there. PVC has been around since February 1, 2008, and maintains some of the best writers in this market.

Traffic Exceeding Expectations

PVC soft-launched on February 1, 2008. Our first month ended with 34,000 visits. Not bad considering it was all word of mouth. March grew to 50,000 visits, and as April closes out today, we finish the month with over 60,000 visits, and it’s still been only word of mouth.

The goal was to grow 25% every month for the first 6 months beginning in February. (Yeah, aggressive huh?!!). Then 14% through December bringing PVC to close at approx. 200,000 visits per month. That is a lofty goal for a new site and to be frank, we’re likely aiming too high, but that’s what goals are for.

By this metric, the goal was to finish April with 53,000 visits. We’re 13% ahead of our goal in traffic so far, and have grown the site by over 75% in traffic in only two months! In addition, PVC has added several new writers since launch; Richard Harrington, Terence Curren, Steve Martin, Brian Gary, Mark Spencer, Art Adams, and Bruce A. Johnson.

This is only the beginning and you can expect several major announcements in the coming weeks/months. It’s going to be a fun ride!

If you’ve placed any advertising before, you know that the information you can get from sales reps can vary wildly. I’m not dissing sales reps, instead there really hasn’t been great standards by which Publishers should follow. We feel pretty strongly that Google Analytics is great data. In fact, we base our writers payments on the depth of the G.A. reports.

At PVC we are going to publish our data openly from Googla Analytics to assist advertisers and potential advertisers in making informed purchasing decisions. Who does that!?! Well, we do. If you’re spending valuable and limited marketing dollars, make sure you’re getting the best ROI. I understand StudioDaily may be sharing Google Analytics data and I applaud that. If you’d like to receive our data, please contact me directly sgentry@provideocoalition.com, or jcory@provideocoalition.com.

Every month we’ll publish our stats here and the Google data obtained from Jarett or myself can be used as proof. Since we only soft-launched in February (meaning no marketing of the site yet, only word of mouth), growth is expected to phase in over the year. Our goal was 25% growth month to month for the first six months, then leveling out to be approximately 200,000 visits by the end of the year 2008.

March 2008: 49,986 (we missed 50,000 by only 14 visits)

Feb. 2008: 34,316

In our second month live we grew 46%.

• Approx. 87% have added us to their bookmarks

• Avg time on site: 5:46 (We’re still new)

For some comparisons, you can check out these other traffic monitoring sites. As you can see from the data they show, compared to Google Analytics data, they are not very reliable, but it may give you an idea of where sites stand.

According to these sites PVC has already beaten the industry grandfather Videography.com.
