Traffic Exceeding Expectations

PVC soft-launched on February 1, 2008.  Our first month ended with 34,000 visits.  Not bad considering it was all word of mouth.  March grew to 50,000 visits, and as April closes out today, we finish the month with over 60,000 visits, and it’s still been only word of mouth.

The goal was to grow 25% every month for the first 6 months beginning in February.  (Yeah, aggressive huh?!!).  Then 14% through December bringing PVC to close at approx. 200,000 visits per month.  That is a lofty goal for a new site and to be frank, we’re likely aiming too high, but that’s what goals are for.

By this metric, the goal was to finish April with 53,000 visits.  We’re 13% ahead of our goal in traffic so far, and have grown the site by over 75% in traffic in only two months!  In addition, PVC has added several new writers since launch; Richard Harrington, Terence Curren, Steve Martin, Brian Gary, Mark Spencer, Art Adams, and Bruce A. Johnson.

This is only the beginning and you can expect several major announcements in the coming weeks/months.  It’s going to be a fun ride!

What is the PVC?

Scott Gentry The ProVideo Coalition brings together the industry’s best writers, bloggers, and video gurus. Within the ProVideo Coalition website, each writer maintains their own blog, with the site’s content management system dynamically sharing tutorials, reviews, video clips, and other media across the individual channels or sites.

Without great editorial content, a publishing property is nothing. We believe that the surest means of attracting the best writers and motivating them to create great content is to give them control of the production process and to let them earn a fair return for their efforts. To that end, the writers come first at the PVC.

Since this is a coalition, we will be growing in the number of writers filling each vertical niche of professional video. We are also still in beta, which means, we’re likely to have some rough edges to the site. Stay tuned, there are lots of great things coming.

To learn more about each writer, go to their blog and read their bio. Me? I ran DV from ’95-04, then Studio and Film & Video until 2007. Even after all that, I have never been more excited about being in this market than right now, and right here at the PVC.
