Sony consumer announces APS-C camcorders with removable lenses
Allan Tépper | 05/13
Sony’s consumer division has just announced three cameras with APS-C sensors and removable lenses (E-Mount), two of which look like pocket-sized DSLR cameras, and the third which looks like a Handicam, is under development. The first two are the models NEX-5 and NEX-3, and the Handicam-type model is visible in the video you’ll see ahead.
Time will tell what professional versions may be yet to be announced from Sony’s Professional division.

I think Sony’s on the right track. Finally someone’s putting a film lens system on a camcorder that doesn’t look and act like a still camera. No more thousand dollar accesory kit to make your DSLR “feel” like a traditional camcorder. It’s interesting that they are approaching the consumer market and not the prosumer market or professionals with this development. It would be interesting to see the estimated price tag. Once professional or prosumer camcorders have the abilities these lenses and imagers provide, the DSLR craze should subside. I say bravo, Sony.

A few cool things I saw at the show that didn’t fit into any other articles.
