Adam Wilt

Adam Wilt has been working off and on in film and video for the past thirty years, while paying the bills writing software for animation, automation, broadcast graphics, and real-time control for companies including Abekas, Pinnacle, Omneon, CBS, and ABC.

Since 1997 his website, adamwilt.com, has been a popular reference for information on the DV formats. He has reviewed cameras for DV Magazine and written its "Technical Difficulties" column, and taught classes and led panels at NAB, IBC, and DV Expo. He co-authored the book,"Optimizing Your Final Cut Pro System", part of the Apple Pro Training series; he hopes you'll buy a copy, as there's still a large advance to be paid off.

Sharpness is a Complex Thing

Resolution numbers don’t tell the whole story; some times less is more!

Limiting resolution is easy to determine, but there’s a whole lot more to image sharpness and overall quality than resolution. For example, you can optimize a pinhole camera for maximum resolution, OR you can optimize it for a sharper-looking image!

Clean, simple 3D animation sells a rolling stop

Before you get all engulfed in the new product announcements sure to flow out of the NAB frenzy next week, take a look at a beautifully executed animation in support of what appears to be an incredibly sensible law that only one state has passed in almost 30 years - allowing bikes to come to a rolling stop. Made by Spencer Boomhower and found on the Bike Portland site, it’s really worth checking out.
