How should I cover NAB this year?

Adam Wilt | 03/01

Are videos useful? Should I shoot more?

I’m starting to think about NAB 2011, and I’m curious what you thought of my 2010 coverage. Got a minute to let me know?

Last year, I put together both traditional, dead-pixels, text-and-pictures reports, and a series of short video clips (all of them listed here). After all, it’s ProVideoCoalition, not freakin’ ProTextAndPicturesCoalition.

But, did you find the videos useful? Should I shoot more this year, or focus on the text reports instead?

• Send me an email saying, Yes please, shoot more video this year!

• Send me an email saying, No, the vids aren’t that useful; focus on reporting, instead.

...And as a thank-you for reading this far, I offer this two-minute timelapse video. OK, it’s not much of a reward; OTOH I didn’t work you too hard, either… [grin]

Hi Adam
Your coverage of last year was great!
It’s hard to choose between more video and more content, so I’m not voting for any of those.
Good luck!

YES. Your educated insight is very much valued. And the people you interview also respect your knowledge and seem to invest the time to get into the details of their products.

I think you do a great job Adam.  I really like how you provide a good mix of the cool new “big stuff” (the stuff most of us can’t afford) and the “little stuff” (the stuff many of us would actually consider purchasing).

Last year’s coverage was perfect.  Keep up the good work!  smile

Best to ask good hard questions.  Too many of these types of videos (not yours) just slap a mic on a man-fac-rep and let them sell.  Look forward to your coverage.

Personally I like text because I can skim through it faster if I am in a hurry.  Video though is great though for things like demonstrations.

NAB 2012: Assorted Snapshots

A few cool things I saw at the show that didn’t fit into any other articles.

NAB is too big a show in too short a time to see more than a fraction of it. I’ve covered a few things in some depth (as have other PVC folks), but there’s plenty more that slips by without proper coverage. Here, I have a few photos…
