One Man, One Vote

Adam Wilt | 09/13

A short film, appropriate (?) for the season.

I’ve been unusually quiet of late because I’ve been embroiled in the final VFX, foley, finishing, and compression of a short film, “One Man, One Vote”. Have a look. Don’t worry: it’s only seven minutes long; if you don’t like it, it will be over soon enough.

There are high-quality frame grabs at Meets The Eye; eventually I hope higher-quality clips will be there, too.

Geeky details:

  • Principal photography took place in September, 1999.
  • Main camera: Sony DSR-500, shooting 16x9 480/60i DVCAM.
  • Pickups shot in 2006 using Sony HVR-Z1 and Panasonic HVX200 cameras.
  • Also: Sony DSC-T1 pocket camera, Treo 650 phone cam (!).
  • Cut the first time in Adobe Premiere 5.1.
  • Cut the second time in Final Cut Pro, versions 5.0.2-6.0.4.
  • Also: After Effects, Shake, Motion, Photoshop, Color Finesse.

If people are interested, I can write up “the making of”, describe the horrible mistakes we committed in production (that we then had to fix in post, of course), and dissect some of the VFX.

But right now I’ve got two new camera reviews in my queue, which I hope to crank out in the next week or so: we apologize for this brief interruption, and we return you to your current program, already in progress…

Production and post for a seven-minute short.
