The Best Headline I’ve Seen All Day

Bruce A Johnson | 06/12

OK, what do you imagine when you read this headline?

LifeSize HD video systems turns any room into a telepresence room

First thing in my head:  The Holodeck from Star Trek; The Next Generation, right?  The truth is a tad less grandiose - it’s video conferencing, in what the news release calls “HD”.  And it isn’t really life size - that’s the name of the company, LifeSize Communications.  A quick glance through their website reveals their HD standard is 720p, which can sure look good, but in a world all dazzled by 4K cameras like Red seems a bit overstated.  And how “lifesize” your conference is will be up to you, since it appears the displays are not included in the price of the video conferencing system.

I’m not really picking on LifeSize - I can’t, I’ve never used their stuff - but breathless press releases like this drive me nuts.
