Lighting Simply for the RED
Art Adams | 11/13- 01:23 PM
Two PARs, a couple of bounce cards and some grid cloth make this spot shine
A while back I posted a Quicktime movie of this project, shot for the California “No on Prop 8” campaign. At the time I promised that lighting diagrams would be along shortly. I lied. I just got around to this today.

Review: Hood-Pro Sock-loupe
Adam Wilt | 11/10- 06:54 PM
$80 turns your PMW-EX1’s LCD into a big, beautiful viewfinder.
The Hood-Pro Sock-loupe turns the EX1’s LCD into an EVF.
Lots of people have said, “if only there were a viewfinder lens I could mount on the PMW-EX1‘s LCD, I’d be happy.” Palm Desert shooter Mike Stevens not only said it, he did it: his Hood-Pro hood is a strap-on LCD hood, and the Sock-loupe is, well, a sock with a +7 diopter loupe sewn into the toe. Nikon is claiming its recent release of the D-90 is the first HD DSLR camera. Plus there’s the news of Canon’s entry into the HD DSLR race, the EOS 5D Mark II as well as the Sony DSLR-A900. The combined pressure of these seemed to sink the much anticipated release of the Scarlet.
So why are these SLR form-factor camera’s making a scene? Well, lately it’s been about the release of Vincent Laforet’s HD film “Reverie” on the Canon website. The images are stunning and the entire project was shot on a 72 hour deadline with a budget of $5,000. So many people downloaded the movie that it shut down Canon’s video webserver.
