Polyvore: Playing Mix & Match
Chris Meyer | 09/24
A free, easy-to-use fashion website for mixing and matching colors.
A couple of months ago, we mentioned the Color Marketing Group: a global consortium that attempts to determine what the hot trends in color for various market segments will be in different parts of the world. They have a free weekly newsletter of color trends and ideas. This week, their hot tip was the fashion site Polyvore.com which allows members to “mix & match products from your favorite stores.” Found wasn’t interested in the shopping aspect; what they found most interesting was the color coordination present in the numerous fashion ensembles which users posted, all arranged as neat thumbnails for reference (and the fact that you could use their site to create your own collages for clients etc.). The images in this blog entry are from their site. Even though it has an obvious feminine bias, give it a visit.
Below is Found’s description of the site:
Polyvore is a free, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching images from anywhere on the web. It is also a vibrant community of creative and stylish people.
Polyvore lets you create sets composed of individual images using an easy to use, drag and drop editor. After you have created a set, you can publish and share it with your friends and the Polyvore community.
The Polyvore editor lets you create sets using items that have been imported into Polyvore by you or other users. Think of it as a very simple collage editor.
Perhaps what is most interesting about Polyvore is the ever-evolving list of top trends, which you will see by scrolling down to the bottom of the home page.
Currently the #1 trend is Floral Dresses, and the color collages made by Polyvore members is breathtaking!
Be sure to scroll through several pages (bottom right corner) - and check back often because this community is prolific in their sharing of trend/color collages!
Just another example of something Found.

A simple, affordable color correction application for the GoPro crowd might be useful in other circles as well
I wandered into GoPro’s rather large booth on Thursday morning as they had both a Porsche 911 and Ford GT40 on display with a ton of GoPros attached.…

400 watts of LED replaces a 6K? Sounds good to me.
Next time you need to flood a room with soft light - in whatever color temperature - you should give the Ohm a look.
