Made with After Effects

In what is become an annual tradition, the good folks over at motion.tv run a Made with After Effects competition. We participate in critiquing the entries, including pointing out the strong points as well as sharing our years of experience in suggesting ways to improve the work even further. The resulting discussion - as well as viewing the winners - is something we think is educational for all users looking to raise their game.

This year was particularly challenging to judge, as there was a broad range of very strong entries. We viewed the work both as clients as well as fellow motion graphics artists. To help break ties, we actually explored the After Effects project files of the finalists looking for good work habits (such as clearly naming which comp is the one that gets rendered!), and verifying that the bulk of the work was indeed performed inside After Effects.

The live webcast is this Tuesday, December 20, 7 PM MST. RSVP using the form at the bottom of this page, and you will be eligible to win prizes (along with the Made with After Effects winners, of course). They range from commercials to corporate work to music videos to special location graphics and more.
