Marshall’s New HDSLR Monitor

While at PhotoCine Expo and DV Expo I got some time to visit with Bernie Keach with Marshall Electronics about their new monitor, the future of HDSLR and why Marshall Monitors have the best reputation in the industry. 

This new 5 inch monitor not only has a great image with an excellent viewing angle, but it’s very light and it’s the only monitor I’m aware of that takes AA batteries.  Rechargeable propriatary batteries can be a nightmare if you’re on a budget or on long shoot with no power.  With Marshall’s LCD50, continuous power is literally as easy as going into any convenience store anywhere in the world.  To me, the most impressive thing about this little monitor is it’s huge feature set.  If you were to ask me why Marshall monitors are simply the best, I would have to say it’s their feature set.  Marshall’s peaking feature can literally save your production and and protect you from soft focus. NAB 2012: Trucolor Ohm Space Light Bruce A Johnson | 04/20 400 watts of LED replaces a 6K?  Sounds good to me. Next time you need to flood a room with soft light - in whatever color temperature - you should give the Ohm a look.

NAB 2012: EZ-Jib Bruce A Johnson | 04/20 EZ to use, EZ on your wallet I’ve always been intrigued by jib arms, and usually put off by their high prices.  EZ-FX might have a solution to that problem.

NAB 2012: Swedish Chameleon DSLR Shoulder Mount Bruce A Johnson | 04/17 No, it isn’t a lizard. There are a lot of DSLR mounts out there, but this one lets you say:  “Look Mom, no hands.”

Seriously??? Every truck and production house I’ve been in has used Marshall only as rack utility monitors. The best monitors in the building never have a Marshall name plate on them.

Wow - I took Latin and Dead Greek for my foreign language requirement, but only because I only had to read it and not speak it.  I some how convinced myself that would be easier than having to learn to speak a foreign language.  BIG MISTAKE!  My hats off to your son, and I wish him all the best…
