This is the Review & Approval we have been promised for years!
For the longest time, Review and Approval in NLE’s has been the thing of mystery, and broken promises. We have been told by big players that they will have revolutionary review and approval, and at the end of the day, it has fallen flat on its face. Let’s face it, and I have no problems saying that R&A in the past has sucked! I know it sounds really negative, and it’s true. The only real type of R&A has come recently with applications like Sorenson Squeeze 6 (along with Sorenson 360), that have helped push R&A in the right direction, but we are still missing something, and that is a real-time R&A that can fit into ANY post production workflow (Avid/FCP/Premiere Pro/Visual Effects/etc), that is until now.
Meet Fuze Movie, a R&A workflow that will not only blow your mind, but it will make you feel good about investing your hard earned money in it. I thought for this review, instead of doing a usual big write up about how it works, I would do a live-to-disk demo with Daniel Settle, the Project Manager of Fuze Movie. He took me on a guided tour of Fuze, and how it works, and I was very, very impressed.
In the end, Fuze was nothing short of amazing. All that for the exceptionally reasonable price of $229 for two floatable licenses for three months (twenty licenses is just $1239 for three months). That’s less than $80 per month for the two licenses, and a cost that can be worked into any budget whether you’re working on a small or large project. This is real-time R&A (as you have seen), and if you need it, Fuze is the place to get it!
PROS
- REAL real-time review and approval
- simple, yet powerful interface
- Floating licenses
- everything you need for review and approval - i.e. - locators, V/O markers, drawing tools
- $229 US for two licenses for three months is a steal
- up to a maximum of twenty licenses. Have as many people on board as you need
CONS
- No Windows version…..yet
- Runs on the back of Skype. If the network has a lot of traffic, R&A might get laggy.
In the end, this is R&A like it has been promised to us for years, the only difference between then and now is that Fuze has made it happen. Fuze movie looks great. i like the diff options for hosting and pointing to files. been using cinesync on the job for a year or two now and it does lots of the same stuff, even has a new “Pro” version with more rigorous color management etc…. perhaps review it against fuze movie???
