Ten Editing “Must Own’s” of 2010 - #7

Kevin P McAuliffe | 01/25

If you’re an editor, here’s the forth of ten products from 2010 that you MUST own!

Hey, I know we’re already into 2011, but I’m not going to stop looking at the best of 2010 until I’m finished, because you don’t want to overlook any of these products!

Nodes

Company - Yanobox
Cost - $99
Keep in Mind - Mac only

It’s very rare that I recommend single plug-ins, but this one is so unique that I had to give it a mention.  I reviewed it earlier in the year, and gave it a must buy, as there is really no plug-in out there that does what this one does.  Anyone who works with a higher end compositing applications like Apple’s Shake knows that their workflow is called Node-based compositing.  Think of DNA.  Each molecule would be a node, that is connected together with lines or “connections”, and you can take these unique structures and animate them in just about any way imaginable.  Basically you can do three things in YN.  You can animate the nodes on their own, you can add connections to the node (lines), and you can add text to them as well, and just about every parameter is adjustable.  As I said before, there’s no other plug-in out there like it.  Check out how easy it is to use.

If you haven’t checked out Nodes, head over to http://www.noiseindustries.com, and download FX Factory Pro for free, as it’s it’s built on FX Factory architecture.  You won’t be disappointed!

Hey Kevin,

It’s been another couple months - did you just give up this quest for the remaining 6? I’d been looking forward to it.
