Matthew Jeppsen is the founder of FreshDV and a digital video shooter and editor. By most reports he is powered entirely by coffee.
Kendal Miller
Kendal Miller has over 10 years experience in the production industry. Currently he is working as Director of Photography in Chicago, IL where he resides with his wife Kendra.
He works on a wide variety of projects
ranging from commercial to independent film projects, working on one of
the first commercial Red projects in the midwest area. When he's not shooting
film or video he enjoys still photography as a hobby.
An original part of the
FreshDV team and contributing author to such magazines as DV and others
Kendal enjoys providing industry training and education for others, and feels
he often learns through the writing process as well.

Redrock Micro’s new rigs for DSLR video
At NAB 2009 a popular topic was convergence…a good example of this are the new Canon 5D MKII still/video cameras. But as good as these cameras are, the form factor leaves something to be desired. We stopped by Redrock Micro’s booth to check out their their highly-configurable DSLR shooting rigs, designed to eliminate some of the shooting and handling issues associated with these DSLR cameras that are still designed primarily for photography.

CoreMelt Complete V2 and ImageFlow for Video
CoreMelt recently released their CoreMelt Complete V2 plugin package for editors, and they were showing it off at NAB. They also are offering their ImageFlow package for quick and painless photo (and now video) montage creation.

For NAB 2009, Zylight launched their new full-size professional LED lighting fixtures. Previously they offered small on (and off) camera solutions, now they are transitioning into larger, fully-adjustable fixtures as well.

VF Studios Remote Follow Focus is now shipping
We’ve covered the Viewfactor Studios Inclino Remote Follow Focus unit in the past, and at NAB 2009 we learned that they are shipping the units out to reservation holders. Curt from Viewfactor spent some time with us, showing how the system operates, and demonstrating it’s featureset.

B4 and 1/2 lens mounts for Letus Extreme, Ultimate, and Elite users
Letus was at the B&H booth at NAB, showing their 2/3” and 1/2” pro adapter mounts, as well as the Ultimate and their rod system. Philip Bloom walked us through the key updates to the system, and spoke from his experience as a Letus user.

Redrock introduces a slew of new products at NAB ‘09
Redrock Micro had a great lineup of new products at NAB 2009, including the new M2 Encore, their LiveLens mount for Canon EF lenses, the Micro FollowFocus v2, and all sorts of baseplate and rod accessories to simplify shooting with various camera configurations.
