Kendal Miller

Kendal Miller has over 10 years experience in the production industry. Currently he is working as Director of Photography in Chicago, IL where he resides with his wife Kendra.

He works on a wide variety of projects ranging from commercial to independent film projects, working on one of the first commercial Red projects in the midwest area. When he's not shooting film or video he enjoys still photography as a hobby.

An original part of the FreshDV team and contributing author to such magazines as DV and others Kendal enjoys providing industry training and education for others, and feels he often learns through the writing process as well.

You have heard that they key to success in retail, and real estate is your location. Well a lot of the same can be said for filmmaking.  There is no substitute for a great location. Unfortunately many great locations never live up to their full potential on screen due to a poor location scout. In fact, it is amazing to me how many people don’t scout locations at all.

Jason Magbanua is one of a very select group of wedding videographers that understands how to craft a story of substance and manage to meld it with cinematic visuals. It seems as though the majority of that industry manages to do one or the other, rarely a compelling combination of both. Magbanua was one of the early pioneers of the wedding Same Day Edit, and he continues to evolve and improve. His studio’s corporate and commercial work has long been an inspiration to me. And their latest creation, a demonstration of the capabilities of the new Canon EOS 7D camera, does not disappoint. Watch below.

Red Epic shoots Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive 2009

The photographer that previously used a Red One camera to shoot Megan Fox earlier this year for Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive 2008 has upped the ante for 2009. The crew at Red provided an early production camera from the new Epic line for the 2009 shoot, and Esquire has leaked a mysterious framegrab and short video clip. So I guess that means Red might actually ship a new camera this year! Sweet.
