Blackmagic Design offers SDK for Linux Developers

Blackmagic Design has announced an SDK for software creators who want to work with DeckLink Intensity and Multibridge products on the open-source Linux platform. Combining the low-cost of the Linux OS with Blackmagic’s extensive line of hardware ingest and playback solutions should be an attractive combination for developers. Full press release below…

JJ Abrams is a fan of the 5D MKII

On the tail end of this interview with filmmaker JJ Abrams is an awesome little outtake where he discusses the camera they are shooting the interview with, the Canon 5D MKII. Turns out Abrams owns one and likes it. He seems very gear savvy and intrigued by the rig the crew is using, asking questions about the mattebox and Redrock Micro follow focus. Very cool! NAB 2009 Wrapup Discussion

So we wrapped our video coverage of NAB 2009 back in April, but there was one remaining segment we haven’t posted yet. On the last day of the Expo, we took a walk around the Central Hall as four cameras (three on Steadicam rigs) circled like HD vultures. The idea was to capture a discussion that wrapped up the show, all while showing the event space as we strolled around booths and products. We initially had pitched the idea to Patrick of Stillmotion, he rounded up a few other Steadicam shooters and expanded on the idea creatively…

Check out the following Adobe CS4 commercial, done in the slightly “off” style of a Gondry or Lynch spot. It’s really odd from a plot and creative standpoint...but I personally like the lighting and set design.
