JJ Abrams is a fan of the 5D MKII

Matt Jeppsen | 06/18

Awesome behind the scenes shoutout to the MarkII and Redrock Micro

On the tail end of this interview with filmmaker JJ Abrams is an awesome little outtake where he discusses the camera they are shooting the interview with, the Canon 5D MKII. Turns out Abrams owns one and likes it. He seems very gear savvy and intrigued by the rig the crew is using, asking questions about the mattebox and Redrock Micro follow focus. Very cool! Check it out. There is also some discussion with the filmmaker who shot the interview over at Cinema5D forums.

NAB 2009 Wrapup Discussion

Matt Jeppsen | 06/15

4 cameras, 3 steadicams, 2 geeks, and 1 overdue wrapup video

So we wrapped our video coverage of NAB 2009 back in April, but there was one remaining segment we haven’t posted yet. On the last day of the Expo, we took a walk around the Central Hall as four cameras (three on Steadicam rigs) circled like HD vultures. The idea was to capture a discussion that wrapped up the show, all while showing the event space as we strolled around booths and products. We initially had pitched the idea to Patrick of Stillmotion, he rounded up a few other Steadicam shooters and expanded on the idea creatively…

Two Creative Stop Motion Videos

Matt Jeppsen | 06/02

Inspirational Brain Food for Creatives

The following two stop-motion videos are quite visually engaging and well-executed. They’ve been shot on a floor from overhead, the perspective and attention to detail is a striking effect. Be sure to watch the credits of “Sorry I’m Late” for a behind-the-scenes peek at how it was accomplished. Inspiring stuff.

Video and Nikon support coming Real Soon Now

image

Over at ProPhotoCoalition I’ve got a post up about a hot new app coming for the iPhone/iTouch that enables you to remotely control Canon DSLR cameras over wifi. It has some limitations, not the least of which is the requirement that the camera be connected to a laptop computer. However, the possibilities are tantalizing. Read on…

Psychedelic CS4 Commercial

Matt Jeppsen | 05/22

Proof that the Marketing Dept at Adobe has been taking controlled substances

image

Check out the following Adobe CS4 commercial, done in the slightly “off” style of a Gondry or Lynch spot. It’s really odd from a plot and creative standpoint...but I personally like the lighting and set design.
