I hate the name “Camera Operator.” That’s like calling a carpenter a “hammer operator.”

Yeah, I would tend to agree with you on that point Dan. Unfortunately, these common terms are rooted deeply in the industry and won’t be displaced any time soon.

Another one I’m not fond of is “focus puller.” Much prefer when that role is defined more broadly, and it gets the title First Assistant Camera.
