Jeff Foster | 12/30- 03:59 PM

Low-voltage portable cool lights you can build yourself and save $$!

Before you go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a cheap light kit online or through a catalog, consider the option of making your own portable, durable and ultimately flexible low-voltage lighting kits. You’ll not only have more control over how much light you want to put on your background and your subject, but also how much you want to spend!

Slo-Mo with the GoPro HD Hero2

Jeff Foster | 12/29- 03:32 PM

Static Camera & Moving Objects @120fps

By now we’ve seen hundreds of really amazing videos with a GoPro strapped to someone’s helmet, snowboard, jumpsuit, surfboard or bike - but I wanted to explore the capabilities of the GoPro HD Hero2 shooting at 120fps in a stationary and tabletop setting and let the action happen around it… in Slo Mo!

Compelling Storytelling with a Short Video

Jeff Foster | 07/31- 02:01 PM

How a 5-minute video has spawned a new career as a producer.

One of the most important features of the current media explosion is the number of different channels someone has at their disposal to tell their story or sell their product - and we’re not talking just cable or TV channels! Some are tempted to use the shotgun approach and merely replicate their message everywhere - print, video, web site, Twitter, Facebook, you name it - but the real winners are those who learn to use alternate media channels in a savvy and effective way to raise above the noise and effectively communicate to their target audience. That’s where we come in: We help clients convey their message in a visually attractive manner. But this brave new world will take some education, both for us and for our clients.

Studio Daily posted the review last week after pounding the thing on a number of edits

Last week Studio Daily published my Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 review. It’s a longie but a goodie as I tried to go into detail about what I really like and what I kinda don’t like about this brand new Premiere Pro. I had been pounding it hard on several projects before writing the review. I have had a few questions about exactly what kind of jobs I’ve been working on with it.

LIGHTING: Advanced Cucoloris Use Illustrated by a Solar Eclipse

Q: What happens when you stack several pattern-making devices in front of a light? A: Extreme lighting goodness. Learn why here…

I love stacking cucolorii (plural of “cucoloris”) and I thought it was time to write an article about how this technique works and why I like it so much. I was a bit stretched for ideas that would illustrate this concept… and then an eclipse happened. Why that made a difference is a very interesting story…
