Randy Boyes | 09/18- 11:57 AM

Designed for pull accuracy and saving time on set

Chicago, IL – September 17, 2008 – ZACUTO announces the release of 4 new Follow Focuses in addition to the already popular Zacuto Z-Focus including: the Lightweight “Flippable” Z-Focus, the Lightweight Double-Sided Z-Focus, the Studio “Flippable” Z-Focus, and the Studio Double-Sided Z-Focus. Great thought and technical detail were put into the creation of these 4 new Zacuto Follow Focuses available in 15mm lightweight and 15/19mm studio rod sizing. Zacuto’s Z-Focuses are all gear driven instead of the more common belt driven system to minimize the slack and play giving the operator excellent accuracy. The wide white witness disk allows the focus puller to create distance marks for repeatable focus pulls. It can be flipped in order to utilize both sides or additional disks can be purchased.

Schneider Optics introduces TRU-CUT IR-750 Filter at IBC 2008

Randy Boyes | 09/18- 11:23 AM

Because what you can’t see can still degrade your digital footage, Schneider Optics introduces the TRU-CUT IR-750 filter, designed to eliminate light in the infra-red (IR) spectrum before it reaches a High Definition camera’s sensors.

Most High-Definition cameras have a high sensitivity to light in the IR spectrum, and though the IR light is not visible to the human eye, it can result in odd color shifts and prevent a camera’s imagers from capturing true black tones. As digital cinematographers use multi-stop neutral-density (ND) filters to allow them to open their lens iris for more depth of field, IR light begins to dominate light from the visible spectrum, making its pollution more apparent.

Cooke Optics /i Technology goes live on the RED ONE Camera

Matt Jeppsen | 09/17- 10:09 AM

Using /i equipped lenses this enables recording key lens and camera data for every frame

Cooke Optics /i Technology goes live on the RED ONE Camera

Leicester, UK – 16 September 2008. Cooke Optics Ltd., a premier manufacturer of precision lenses for the motion picture industry, has announced that its /i Technology will be available on all RED ONE cameras that ship from 12 September 2008.

Jarred Land, Fire Chief at RED, announced on the RED website on Friday 12 September that all new RED ONE cameras would come with /i pins installed and fully functional. http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18936.

Cooke’s /i “Intelligent” Technology enables PL-mounted film and digital cameras to automatically record key lens and camera data for every film frame, using /i equipped lenses, which can then be provided digitally to post production teams. Since the RED ONE camera has built-in /i support via contacts in the RED camera lens mount for direct metadata capture, there is no need for an additional equipment interface.

The technology streamlines both production and post, saving significant time and costs and eliminating guesswork, whilst enabling greater creative freedom.  Les Zellan, Chairman, Cooke Optics, said, “We are delighted that /i Technology is now live on the RED ONE. With schedules tighter than ever and demands for higher image quality, the need for production and post to work closely together has never been more important. The RED ONE camera is all about using digital technology to streamline processes and create the best possible images, and the /i capability amply fulfils that criteria.”
