Video projection has become a touchstone for live performances.

(Chicago, IL, December 1, 2008) – From the Rolling Stone playing at Soldier Field to the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremonies, video projection has become a touchstone for live performances.  Chicago has long been a live music capital in the nation, and as the cost of video projectors fall, the business of music is changing.

“Video can now be ‘played’ just like a musical instrument can be played,” explains Mason Dixon, founder of the Chicago Motion Graphics Festival, “the lights made for live concerts now project full-motion video, and live music performance software like Ableton Live now sports video capabilities.”

Io HD, KONA 3 and KONA LHe products. With version 6.0.2, AJA has added
support for the extraction of 23.98 fps video from a 1080i 29.97 fps HD-SDI
signal. It is important to note that not all models of camcorders with
1080i 29.97 HD-SDI output provide the flagged frame data needed for the
proper operation of this feature.

Autodesk to bring Toxik, Mudbox and ImageModeler to Mac

MacWorld 2009 previews; March 2009 availability

It is now official - from the website: “To coincide with the annual Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Autodesk, Inc.  announced today that it has expanded its portfolio of Macintosh 2D and 3D software tools for entertainment, multimedia and design professionals. The three new 2009 products for Mac OS X are Autodesk Toxik procedural compositing software, Autodesk Mudbox digital sculpting and texture painting software, and Autodesk ImageModeler image-based modeling and photogrammetry software. As well, 2009 versions of Autodesk Maya 3D modeling, animation and rendering software and Autodesk Stitcher photo-stitching software are already available on the Mac.”

The press release goes on to break down the products. Toxik is a nodal compositing program which retails for $3.495 and competes directly with Shake, Nuke, and to a lesser extent, After Effects. Mudbox ($745, available in February) is favored by 3D artists for creating organic models such as characters and creatures and competes directly with Z-Brush. ImageModeler ($995) is a photogrammetry application which creates 3D models from photographs.
