Scott Gentry | 02/07- 11:25 PM

Schneider Optics introduces a new line of Century HD lens accessories created especially to complement Sony’s new PMW-EX1 camcorder. These top-of-the-line optical attachments provide unprecedented image clarity, while enabling the camera to go wider, reach further, and move in closer than the lens alone will allow.

Available in March 2008, new Century accessories for the Sony PMW-EX1 include the .6X HD Wide Angle Adapter (#0HD-06WA-EX1), .75X HD Wide Angle Converter (#0HD-75CV-EX1), 1.6X HD Tele-Converter (#0HD-16TC-EX1), Super Fisheye HD Adapter (#0HD-FESU-EX1), and the Extreme Fisheye HD Adapter (#0HD-FEWA-EX1).

Produced by the top maker of professional add-ons, Century Pro Series HD lens accessories employ state-of-the-art optics to produce high-resolution images with low distortion, and superior contrast edge to edge. Multi-coated glass elements provide sharp images free of unwanted distortion or chromatic aberration. Units are equipped with a bayonet mount for quick and easy installation and removal from the front of the camera lens.

U.S. MSRP starts at $490.00. New Red Camera On Track For NAB

Scott Gentry | 01/02- 05:16 PM

While it’s very early to be certain, it looks as though Red will bring another new HD camera to start lusting, er, saving for.  You can expect prototypes of the new pocketable or “pocket professional camera” as Jim Jannard CEO calls it.  So it’s not supposed to be a competitor to Red One.  That’s all we know at this point.  More soon…

New Camera Bags From Petrol

Scott Gentry | 01/02- 02:37 PM

Petrol, a Vitec Group brand, introduces the Dr. Petrol camera carrier. Inspired by the traditional doctor’s bag, this new semi-hard equipment bag is uniquely designed to hold a camera and accessories comfortably and securely and offer fast and easy access to its contents.

Dr. Petrol’s hinged top unzips smoothly and opens extra wide to the generous central compartment. Inside there is ample room for inserting a camera fully equipped, without disturbing the mic, viewfinder, or mattebox system. Detachable padded dividers help secure contents and can be custom configured for important accessories like batteries and a camera light. Contents are cradled on all sides by layers of cushioned orange fabric. Upper panels of shockproof, cold-molded laminate safeguard equipment and provide extra protection. Other features include an exterior side pocket for additional storage, U-Grip interlock carrying handle, adjustable, ergonomic padded shoulder strap, and Petrol’s dual directional easy-glide zippers. The carrier’s exterior is constructed of heavy-duty blue and black Cordura.

LIGHTING: Advanced Cucoloris Use Illustrated by a Solar Eclipse

Art Adams | 05/24- 11:24 AM

Q: What happens when you stack several pattern-making devices in front of a light? A: Extreme lighting goodness. Learn why here…

I love stacking cucolorii (plural of “cucoloris”) and I thought it was time to write an article about how this technique works and why I like it so much. I was a bit stretched for ideas that would illustrate this concept… and then an eclipse happened. Why that made a difference is a very interesting story…
