Artbeats Reaches New Heights with Three High Definition Hawaiian Aerials Collections

PVC News Staff | 08/17

Largest Selection of Royalty Free Hawaiian Aerial Footage; Includes Rare Scenic and City Imagery Shot with RED One and eclipse Gyrostabilized Camera System

From its rocky cliffs and pristine coastlines, to cityscapes and the remote Mauna Loa Observatory, Artbeats today announces the release of three new HD collections featuring the overhead beauty of the Hawaiian Islands: Hawaiian City Aerials, Hawaiian Establishment Aerials and Hawaiian Scenic Aerials. Shot using the RED One Camera, combined with the eclipse gyrostabilized camera system - a first within the stock footage industry - these new collections give Artbeats the unique status of having the largest, and highest quality, library of royalty-free Hawaiian aerial footage available on the Web.

“This shoot provided great opportunities for us,” says Artbeats President and Lead Cinematographer, Phil Bates. “Not only were we the first company to use the eclipse gyrostabilized camera system, but this shoot also served as Artbeats’ first time shooting aerials with the RED One camera. We are excited to take such technologically advanced steps to provide our customers with the most complete, high-quality stock footage options available.”

Utilizing the skills of prominent aerial cinematographer Doug Holgate, whose vast television and film resume includes 24, Survivor, Brothers and the upcoming feature film Soul Surfer, this highly ambitious, multi-island shoot was accomplished in just a single day. Of the more than 400 shots captured, Artbeats produced over 200 clips of the cities and scenery of Hawaii, an impressive showcase highlighting the accuracy and talent of the Artbeats cinematography team. “There were some very challenging aspects to this shoot,” says Bates. “For instance, the elevation at the Mauna Loa Observatory is so high that it’s difficult for helicopters to reach, let alone hover for any length of time. We were very fortunate to be able to capture such rare aerial footage.”

Hawaiian City Aerials features fly-overs of Hilo, Honolulu, Kahului, Kailua-Kona, Kapaa, Koko Kai, Lahaina, Lihue, Nanakuli, Pearl City and Waianae.

Hawaiian Establishment Aerials was shot from a higher perspective and features sprawling cities, vast lava fields, the remote Mauna Loa Observatory and more.

Hawaiian Scenic Aerials captures the breathtaking beauty of Hawaii’s rocky cliffs, lush canyons, gorgeous waterfalls and pristine coastlines.

Pricing and Availability

Each collection - Hawaiian City Aerials, Hawaiian Establishment Aerials and Hawaiian Scenic Aerials - contains over 30 clips and is available in Standard Definition (NTSC or PAL) for $699 USD or High Definition (HD) for $1,299 USD. Clips may also be purchased individually for $199-$299 USD each. In addition, nearly every clip is available in Hi-Res (4K) with the RAW R3D files for an additional fee.

Adobe teases Prelude at the San Francisco Supermeet, FCPUG changes its name

Scott Simmons | 01/28

The Adobe sneak looks intriguing. Makes me excited for CS6.

From the looks of Twitter last night there were a couple of surprises at the Friday evening’s San Francisco Supermeet. First bit of news I saw was that Final Cut Pro User Group (FCPUG) has decided to drop the Final Cut Pro designation from their name to become the Creative Pro User Group. Second was a sneak peek from Adobe about a new application called Prelude.

The FCP X update? It matters….is now the time to jump on board?

More Info About the Final Cut X Update(Sponsored by FMC)

FCP X has caused quite a controversy in the video community; between massive changes in software design and a struggle for professional workflows, the new version (while amazing) has been a rocky release for Apple.  This new update starts to address some of the criticisms from professionals.

Why Apple’s update should matter for you:

The update for FCPX shows one thing very clearly: Apple is listening. …
