Compix QuickShot Serves as Fast, Easy Remote Trigger for Instant On-Screen Graphics

New 1-RU Remote Button Panel Provides Quick Access to Graphics on Compix CGs, Triggers Breaking News Crawl With a Single Button Press

Compix, a leading developer of professional-quality character generators (CGs), announced today the release of the QuickShot, a 1-RU remote button panel that allows users to put graphics on-screen instantly with the press of a button. The QuickShot provides fast access to multiple graphics on a remote Compix system without requiring the user to log into a PC. Housed in a newsroom, the new QuickShot allows the news production team to launch breaking news crawls, such as school closings and severe weather alerts, even when graphics staff is unavailable.

“Built on the widely acclaimed USP-8 and USP-16 from DNF Controls, as well as our powerful AutoCast software and integrated prebuilt templates, the QuickShot provides a cost-effective and elegant CG solution for fast-paced production environments,” said Lan Merrill, vice president of engineering at Compix. “With this very simple mechanism for putting timely updates on-screen immediately, news organizations can easily keep viewers up to date with the latest news, regardless of the time of day or number of staff at the facility.”

Perfectly designed to meet the demands of master control, the Compix QuickShot package delivers critical graphics capabilities though a simple interface already familiar in broadcast facilities around the world. The series of preconfigured templates available on the QuickShot can be customized for news, sports, weather, or other types of information, depending on the broadcaster’s needs. LCD keycaps featuring multiple colors and custom text labels contribute to accurate graphics playout. The panel is integrated with customers’ new or existing Compix CG systems at the Compix factory.

Adobe teases Prelude at the San Francisco Supermeet, FCPUG changes its name

Scott Simmons | 01/28

The Adobe sneak looks intriguing. Makes me excited for CS6.

From the looks of Twitter last night there were a couple of surprises at the Friday evening’s San Francisco Supermeet. First bit of news I saw was that Final Cut Pro User Group (FCPUG) has decided to drop the Final Cut Pro designation from their name to become the Creative Pro User Group. Second was a sneak peek from Adobe about a new application called Prelude.
