Cooke Optics /i Technology goes live on the RED ONE Camera

Leicester, UK – 16 September 2008. Cooke Optics Ltd., a premier manufacturer of precision lenses for the motion picture industry, has announced that its /i Technology will be available on all RED ONE cameras that ship from 12 September 2008.

Jarred Land, Fire Chief at RED, announced on the RED website on Friday 12 September that all new RED ONE cameras would come with /i pins installed and fully functional. http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18936.

Cooke’s /i “Intelligent” Technology enables PL-mounted film and digital cameras to automatically record key lens and camera data for every film frame, using /i equipped lenses, which can then be provided digitally to post production teams. Since the RED ONE camera has built-in /i support via contacts in the RED camera lens mount for direct metadata capture, there is no need for an additional equipment interface.

The technology streamlines both production and post, saving significant time and costs and eliminating guesswork, whilst enabling greater creative freedom.  Les Zellan, Chairman, Cooke Optics, said, “We are delighted that /i Technology is now live on the RED ONE. With schedules tighter than ever and demands for higher image quality, the need for production and post to work closely together has never been more important. The RED ONE camera is all about using digital technology to streamline processes and create the best possible images, and the /i capability amply fulfils that criteria.”
