Provide DCP Services for Todd Solondz’s “Life During Wartime”

Final Frame, a New York City based post production service provider announced today that it has expanded their services for the Digital Cinema post production market.  Final Frame’s new DCP (Digital Cinema Package) services provide a complete solution for the encoding, secure key embedding, encryption, storing, decoding, viewing, and packaging of digital cinema content for delivery to digital cinemas and digital festivals / screenings.

At the heart of their DCP service, Final Frame has invested in a scalable digital cinema solution from Dolby including the Dolby® Secure Content Creator (SCC2000) and Dolby Screen Server (DSS200).  The Dolby SCC2000 offers a comprehensive set of tools needed to take a Digital Cinema Distribution Master (DCDM) and quickly produce final 2K or 4K digital cinema distribution files - Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) for distribution to cinemas via satellite, fiber, or physical media.  The DSS200 is a platform that stores, decodes, and delivers content to a digital cinema projector.

All DCPs completed at Final Frame follow the recommended specifications of SMPTE and the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI).

The Dolby SCC2000 content creator and DSS200 server seamlessly fits into the existing Final Frame post production digital intermediate workflow.  Final Frame’s screening room is also equipped with a Barco digital cinema projector, which are designed with a high-end post production and digital cinema workflow in mind and offer high quality images to ensure that what you see in post is what will be seen in digital cinema theatres and screenings.

With the addition of the digital cinema tools, Final Frame Post is now offering services to cover the complete process of digital intermediate conforming & grading in 4:2:2 or 4:4:4, advanced image correction, dust busting and grain management all the way to the creation of a DCP digital cinema package.

“Our key goal is to help studios, independent filmmakers, and television producers realize their vision,” comments Will Cox, co-founder of Final Frame.  “Providing DCP services was a logical next step for us, and enables us to provide our customers with a complete solution of editing, DI, digital cinema playback and viewing as well as DC packaging to create the final digital distribution files for delivery to theatres, festivals or screening rooms.  We selected the Dolby DCP platform because of their long history of technical innovations and proven track record of delivering high quality solutions and support.”

“Final Frame’s new DCP service offering using the Dolby SCC2000 and DSS200 is a first for New York City, said Tom Kodros, Manager Production Services, Dolby Laboratories.  “There are clear advantages to our digital cinema technology, and we are confident that Final Frame’s new DCP services, their experienced team and commitment to quality will serve the needs of their clients.”

Final Frame recently provided DCP services for Todd Solondz’s latest movie “Life

During Wartime,” which took the Venice International Film Festival by storm, winning best screenplay.  “Life During Wartime” also appeared as part of the Special Presentation category at the Toronto International Film Festival.
