Fujinon Introduces XA50X9.5B ESM-D HD Telephoto Lens

PVC News Staff | 06/16

Mount Design Is Ideal for ENG Cameras with System Expanders

Fujinon, a major manufacturer and distributor of optics and lens assemblies for the broadcast, digital cinema, and industrial markets, introduces the XA50X9.5B ESM-D HD telephoto lens. The XA50X9.5B ESM-D features the same optics as the XA50X9.5 lens introduced at the 2009 NAB Show in April, however, the new lens is designed for “hard” cameras – or ENG cameras that use system expanders.

A good choice for rental companies, the cost effective XA50X9.5B ESM-D was designed for smaller venues and applications that do not require extremely high magnification. It is ideal for basketball arenas and certain camera positions in other professional and collegiate sports coverage, as well as houses of worship and corporate events. Rental companies that already have the build-up kits or a Fujinon lens adapter only have to buy the lens.

“We are making our mid-range focal lengths more accessible by offering the new XA50X9.5B ESM-D,” said Dave Waddell, Marketing Manager for Fujinon. “This lens offers the high quality imaging our customers are used to seeing from our products, but works with the types of cameras they’ve already got in their inventory. We are confident that production companies and truck companies will be served well by this new 50X lens.”

The XA50X9.5B ESM-D offers 50X magnification and a 9.5 to 475mm focal length coupled with excellent F stop ramping characteristics. A remote control 2X extender is standard. The maximum relative aperture is 1.7 from 9.5 to 311mm and only 2.6 at 475mm. The minimum object distance is 9.8 feet from the front of the lens.

Built-in moisture absorbing technology reduces fogging caused by humidity and improves reliability. Plus, the new lens features Fujinon’s exclusive Digi Power digital servo control system, which enhances the performance of both zoom and focus functions.

Fujinon is a major manufacturer and distributor of optics and lens assemblies for the broadcast, digital cinema, and industrial markets. The company’s line of television zoom lenses are used in virtually every segment of the broadcast industry, including electronic newsgathering, studio and field production, and high definition television. Adobe teases Prelude at the San Francisco Supermeet, FCPUG changes its name

Scott Simmons | 01/28

The Adobe sneak looks intriguing. Makes me excited for CS6.

From the looks of Twitter last night there were a couple of surprises at the Friday evening’s San Francisco Supermeet. First bit of news I saw was that Final Cut Pro User Group (FCPUG) has decided to drop the Final Cut Pro designation from their name to become the Creative Pro User Group. Second was a sneak peek from Adobe about a new application called Prelude.

Affordable PL-mount Primes Compared

Adam Wilt | 01/06

85 minutes of lens tests!

If you’re in the market to rent or buy “affordable” PL-mount primes (e.g., under $10,000/lens), you won’t want to pass up this test.

Quick Look: Three New E-Mount Primes

Adam Wilt | 12/17

Sony’s new 24mm, 50mm, and 30mm macro lenses for NEX cameras.

Sony has three E-Mount primes coming out right about now, and I had a chance to play with prototypes of them attached to an NEX-FS100 LSS camcorder. Here are my impressions, and a short test.
