HD Monitor Pro 1.6 adds support for RED ONE Digital Cinema Cameras

PVC News Staff | 03/31

Red Lightning Software LLC. today announced the immediate availability of HD Monitor Pro 1.6 with RED ONE DIGITAL CINEMA Camera support. HD Monitor Pro proves itself an indispensable tool for productions to view, record, log and manage live high definition video.

New features in HD Monitor Pro 1.6 include: Proxy Clip Recording; support for Red Lightning’s New Wireless Bluetooth Remote to automate Proxy Clip Recording; Instant Proxy Clip syncing with RED ONE footage; Automatic intelligent indexing of the take field, and full size clip viewing.

Proxy Clip Recording allows the user to record shots untethered from the RED ONE camera. Proxy Clips act as placeholder clips for the actual footage recorded by the camera. A simple keystroke or the optional RLS Wireless Bluetooth Remote will start and stop the Proxy Clip Recording. The user will be able to annotate each proxy clip with a name, shot type, rating, notes, scene and take information. This allows the user to log each shot, on set, in real time, with accurate and relevant information while the details are fresh. Proxy Clips support our Real Time Markers, adding user-defined pre-named markers (“Action,” “Cut,” “Outtake,” etc.) for quickly locating specific points in your footage when editing, significantly speeding up the editing process.

After copying the RED ONE camera footage to the Macintosh computer, it is a simple matter for HD Monitor Pro to automatically sync the Proxy Clips with the actual RED ONE clips. In an instant, hundreds of Proxy Clips will be accurately connected with their corresponding RED clips. Then, the user will be able to watch each clip, edit the logging information, add and remove Real Time Markers, and export all the clips and their associated notes to Final Cut Pro for instant editing. This eliminates the need to spend countless hours watching and logging footage and allows creating rough cuts while still on-set to help determine what shots might still be required to complete the scene.

To automate Proxy Clip Recording, Red Lightning Software is now offering the Red Lightning Software Wireless Bluetooth Remote. The RLS Wireless Bluetooth Remote will automatically start and stop Proxy Clip Recording when the RED ONE camera starts and stops recording, allowing accurate hands free Proxy Clip creation. The RLS Wireless Bluetooth Remote has a usable range of well over 40 feet, allowing Proxy Clip Recording from anywhere on set.

HD Monitor Pro will now automatically and intelligently index each shot’s take numbering for accurate and hassle free annotation. Our intelligent shot take indexing will automatically keep track of all shots and allows the user to shoot new scenes and then return to a previous scene and the take indexing will pick up where it left off.

Movie clips can now be viewed full size in HD Monitor Pro, streamlining clip reviewing and annotating.

Red Lightning Software’s HD Monitor Pro views, records, optimizes and organizes live video on a Mac. Instantly go from shooting to editing in Final Cut Pro with all the shot ratings, labels and comments transferred from HD Monitor Pro with a single mouse click. HD Monitor Pro’s High Resolution Focus, Exposure Zebras, Screen Calibration, Shot and Continuity checking tools saves time and countless headaches.

Pricing and Availability:

HD Monitor Pro 1.6 is available immediately for $499 (USD). Multilicense discounts are available. Macintosh OS X 10.5 required. A demo version is available from our download page. Mac OS 10.4.0-10.5.7. HD Monitor Pro 1.6 is a free update for registered HD Monitor Pro users.

Red Lightning Wireless Bluetooth Remote will be available mid-April for $599 (USD) and works with the RED ONE camera. Mac OS 10.4.0-10.5.5 and Bluetooth required.
