SNEAK PEEK: ADOBE MERCURY PLAYBACK ENGINE

PVC News Staff | 12/17

Previously, Adobe announced that all future versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects will be 64-bit native only, meaning that future versions of these products will no longer support 32-bit computing.  The Mercury Playback Engine is one of the reasons for this change.  Mercury Playback Engine is an brand new playback engine that will show up in a future version of Premiere Pro, and now your members can have a sneak peek.

Our radical new Mercury Playback Engine is GPU-accelerated, 64-bit native and architected for the future. Native 64-bit support enables you to work more fluidly on HD and higher resolution projects, and new GPU acceleration speeds effects processing and rendering.

Benefits include:

• Open projects faster, refine effects-rich HD and higher-resolution sequences in real time, enjoy smooth scrubbing and play back of complex projects without rendering.

• See results instantly when applying multiple color corrections, the new Ultra Keyer, Gaussian blurs and blend modes, and work with numerous other effects across many video layers.

• Work in real time on complex timelines and long-form projects with thousands of clips – whether your project is SD, HD, 2K, 4K or beyond.

Well, I must say I was impressed by the multi-cam demo.

I’ve been hoping for that to become realistically usable for a long time. Looks great!
