Thales Angenieux Extends Industry Leading “Rouge” Lens Lineup With New 16-42mm Optimo DP Lens

Two Lenses In Acclaimed Optimo DP Series Now Cover 16-80mm Range

Thales Angenieux is showcasing its new Optimo Rouge 16-42mm large format digital zoom lens here at NAB 2009.  This new addition to the highly acclaimed Optimo Rouge Series joins the company’s Optimo Rouge 30-80mm lens to comprise a versatile lens package that covers a focal range of 16-80mm.

“The Optimo DP series incorporates the next generation of optics for high-definition imaging to specifically complement the new breed of large format digital cameras that are quickly gaining traction in the production industry,” said Eva Paryzka, Sales Manager, Cinema Products, Thales Angenieux.  “Since its introduction last year, the Optimo 30-80mm model quickly became cinematographers’ lens of choice and we anticipate that our new 16-42mm lens will quickly achieve the same level of acceptance due to its outstanding performance and wide focal range.”

The new Optimo Rouge 16-42mm large format digital zoom lens was developed by Thales Angenieux’s Academy Award® winning Optimo design team. It features a wide angle position of 16mm (75.4 degrees), a fast aperture of T2.8, calibrated focus marks and no ramping or breathing.  In addition, the lightweight (4.2 pounds) PL mount lens features a unique mechanical design for precise zoom and focus.

“Our Optimo DP Series large format digital zoom lenses delivers Angenieux’s industry-leading optics along with superior functionality and ergonomics,” added Ms. Paryzka. “The Optimo DP Series makes no compromises and provides the image coverage of full S35 (31.1mm diagonal) in a lightweight and compact design.”
