Toronto, Ontario November 21, 2008. VFGadgets is pleased to launch the: “EX3 Heavy Duty Base Plate System” from PCI Canada. The EX3 Heavy Duty Base Plate System makes a rock-solid connection between your fluid head and the Sony EX3 camera base. Designed to be a professional replacement to the threaded 1/4-20 stock mount, this solid plate fastens to the base of the camera at 3 points. With the heavy duty base plate you can use a v-wedge toe piece for the Sony VCT-24 and VCT-U14, or any quick release camera plate with 1/4”-20 or 3/8” threads to mount the camera solidly to a fluid head.

The accessory Back Plate of the EX3 Heavy Duty Base Plate System acts as a solid mounting point for larger popular battery packs and other accessories. This configuration also improves shoulder balance, providing more comfort for the handheld camera operator.

The EX3 Heavy Duty Base Plate System was developed for rental house use to handle every day abuse in the field. It’s machined from solid aircraft aluminum and anodized with a protective black finish.

The 15mm rod adaptor accessory (60mm spacing) for matte boxes, and lens support bracket for heavier lenses are also available to add more flexibility to your EX3 camera.

NAB 2012: Assorted Snapshots

Adam Wilt | 05/08

A few cool things I saw at the show that didn’t fit into any other articles.

NAB is too big a show in too short a time to see more than a fraction of it. I’ve covered a few things in some depth (as have other PVC folks), but there’s plenty more that slips by without proper coverage. Here, I have a few photos…

NAB 2012: RED

Adam Wilt | 05/07

RED’s Ted Schilowitz discusses 2012’s products, and a photo gallery.

RED’s “Leader of the Rebellion” Ted Schilowitz held a press conference at NAB on Monday, describing the projects and products RED is working on. Rather than paraphrase him, I’ve got him on card (well, it’s not “on…

NAB 2012: Camera Support

Adam Wilt | 05/05

A few of the interesting bits ‘n’ bobs that make cameras usable.

At NAB I found support vendors at the affordable end of the spectrum I hadn’t seen before, comfy Aaton-style handgrips, F65 tweaks by Carlos Acosta, and a “drive-by demo” of a handy zoom/focusing lever.
