Wohler Technologies Inc. today announced that the company’s AMP1-16-3G and Dolby® E-capable and Dolby Digital Plus ready AMP1-E16-3G 16-channel multirate audio monitors, equipped with OLED (organic light emitting diode) screen technology, are now shipping. With a straightforward control interface and the same look and feel made popular by Wohler’s acclaimed AMP2-16-3G 16-channel audio monitor, these monitoring systems offer ease-of-operation that simplifies the most complex multichannel and surround applications. With superior screen performance and 3G support, AMP1-16-3G and AMP1-E16-3G are smart, forward-looking additions to any fixed or mobile broadcast facility.
“Featuring intuitive interfaces, flexible metering parameters, the latest in display technology, and support for the newest surround format, our new AMP1 audio monitors offer the robust performance required for today’s DTV signal chain,” said Kim Templeman-Holmes, vice president of global sales and marketing at Wohler. “We’re pleased to announce shipping of the AMP1-16-3G and AMP1-E16-3G, our first 1RU 16-channel 3G audio/video monitors, and we’re confident that broadcasters will find them a convenient solution for their multichannel monitoring needs.” Equipped with dual selectable 3G/HD/SD inputs, the AMP1-16-3G and AMP1-E16-3G provide monitoring for up to 16 channels of embedded audio within a single multirate SDI signal. Two of the unit’s three OLED screens provide simultaneous monitoring of 16 audio channels with flexible options for high-resolution 180-segment audio metering. Depending on the operation, the screens may display video or data, setup and configuration controls, active help, or alerts notifying the operator if signals fall out of compliance with ITU-1770/1771 standards. With their unparalleled contrast ratio and clarity, these OLED screens enhance the AMP1-16 units’ suitability for applications requiring both performance and cost-efficiency. The fully digital system architecture of the AMP1-16-3G and AMP1-E16-3G features high-fidelity class-D amplifiers for absolute reproduction of the embedded signal. Flexible assignment of directional signals allows the operator to configure the monitor to the specific needs of a production. Likewise, user-selectable metering functions and eight user-defined presets provide speedy configuration of the monitor to meet various operational and programming requirements. Newly introduced readiness for Dolby Digital Plus simplifies monitoring for HD broadcasts with up to 7.1 channels of surround sound.
