We’re Hiring

We’re launching ProAudio Coalition and looking for top notch writers/bloggers

image

From the start, the goal of ProVideo Coalition was to launch sister sites with the same business model – 40% of the advertising revenue going directly to the writers.

We’re on the lookout for great Audio writers for ProAudio Coalition.  Ideal candidates will have a name in the industry, significant articles under their belt, or an already established blog on Audio.

We’re looking at all aspects of the Pro Audio industry; Mics, Audio Workstations, mixing, live audio, etc.  (not focusing on Musical Instruments)

If interested, please send links to your work, along with your background/resume to:  writers at provideocoalition.com

Having worked as a Non-Linear Editor in Hollywood for over 9 years, I have kept myself abreast of the latest technologies in regards to Hi-Definition and how it pertains to modern independent and Studio-based filmmaking.

My interests mainly lie in the Democratization of filmmaking and how modern tech has influenced the landscape of our industry. I have blogged consistently about these subjects, mainly focusing on NLE choices, Storage Options, and Imaging Applications such as Adobe CS 3 and the various Plug-In Packages that are becoming increasingly complex and affordable.

This all came to a nexus three years ago when I decided to shoot “My Confession,” a Hi-Definition thriller in which I would force myself to design an entirely Desktop-based solution to 1920x1080 Hi-Def material. Within three months I had a solid, provable workflow and was able to produce a Hi-Def master file using only Desktop software solutions. The link to my workflow is above, as well as a response to a fellow DV rebel looking to emulate my workflow. I did this at a time when neither Avid nor FCP supported Canon’s 24 Frame structure, but I knew it could be done, with a little patience and head-scratching.

I recently completed “The Angry Guys,” a spec Pilot for FX which was filmed on the HVX-200, and was posted on FCP Studio 2. Originally brought on as a Technical consultant, my Editorial work quickly garnered me the Position of Editor, and I am pleased to say the Producers have been ecstatic about the results.

Without the freedom new Technologies bring to bear, this Pilot would probably never have happened. Now a new show, and hundreds of jobs may be created all because new ideas were embraced, not shunned.

I do this not simply for profit, but because I believe this is important to the survival of our profession as a whole. Something is happening in our business, and those of us who seek the vanguard of what technology can do are poised to take command of their own destinies, rather than blithely wait for a Studio to give them permission to pursue their dreams. The more we learn the more we can teach. The more we can teach, our numbers grow, and we become the industries dominant force.

Below are links to my Editorial work. Whether or not you choose to engage my services, I remain a faithful reader. I am greatly appreciative of the work you do here, and wish you all the best. Please let me know how I can help the cause.
