Hi Scott
Read somewhere that you only need the DCIM folder containing .MOV and .THM files ... did you try that? Also wondering if you tried the suggested trick of using a valid 1D/5D/7D .THM with the 550D/T2i movies to see if you can get the E1 to read those clips?

Andy, good call. I just tried pointing right to the DCIM folder and that did work while moving one directory deeper to the 100EOS7D folder doesn’t work which is what I tried before. While there’s nothing in the MISC folder it’s sure leaves less fluff on a drive to get rid of them.

Isn’t it amazing that even though MPEG Streamclip uses the Quicktime architecture to transcode, and it’s still quicker than compressor

There appears to be a lot of leeway in how things are named. For instance you can rename the EOS_DIGITAL folder however you want (to give a desired reel name). You can rename the folder inside DCIM just about any way you want as far as I can tell. And you can combine .mov/.thm files from different DCIM sub-folders. And you can even rename the .mov/.thm as long as they both keep the same new name.
All of these variations still load just fine in the Canon L&T;plugin.

As you have demonstrated, depending on folder structure to maintain the integrity of the video is a fragile design. Oh, we’ll make it work, but I predict it will require more time, and thus more money than would otherwise be necessary.

I’ve never used MPEG Streamclip, but I use Compressor A LOT. As anyone checked to see that the settings in MPEG SC are the exact same as Compressor? It’s easy to make the transcode faster if the quality is reduced.

The plugin worked fine for me the first time I used it but thereafter I have had no luck. All I get is transfer errors with no files actually being transcoded.
Also it is failing to recognise the directory structure when I copy the CF card to disk using EOS_DIGITAL as the top folder name and copying the complete structure.
