ReelDirector is a bit iMovie like in that it can string together clips, add an opening title and end title and place a transition in between. That is editing! The Quick Start guide pretty much says it all:
There is a bit more to it than that. You can actually trim the IN and OUT points of a clip via traditional iPhone trimming methods before you place the clip in a timeline. You can also rearrange the clips once in a timeline via dragging. There’s even a tiny little playhead that you can drag through the timeline. Stopping the drag between clips will even show you a frame of your selected transition. Don’t expect realtime playback though as you have to Create the movie when you are done with the edit. It took several minutes for my 30 second edit. Once created you can play it, save it to your camera roll or share it via email:
With sharing it sends the email through the Mail app. When finished your projects is saved for more editing later:
It’s not perfect as you can’t (as of yet ... it is version 1.0) re-trim a clip once it’s in the timeline thought you can delete a clip and start over. And there’s no option to record a new audio track or add music from your iTunes library. But hey ... it’s editing video on the iPhone! The app is $7.99 and available on iTunes. (iTunes link)
Happy mobile editing ... and here’s the result of downloading the app, shooting 3 shots and taking 5 minutes to make a quick edit:
In addition to ReelDirector Nexvio also has an app to do slow motion from video clips on the 3GS. We’ve seen the music video shot on an iPhone. How long before we see one edited on the iPhone as well? Shooting a video on the iPhone was a gimmick. Editing a video on the thing would be madness!

NAB is too big a show in too short a time to see more than a fraction of it. I’ve covered a few things in some depth (as have other PVC folks), but there’s plenty more that slips by without proper coverage. Here, I have a few photos…
