Vivitar introduces a breakthrough $10 camera, for your grandfather

Scott Simmons | 09/08

Who knew you could still buy this stuff!

There’s a great video that’s been making the Twitter rounds that takes the point and shoot still camera to a new level. It’s Vivitar’s 35mm film camera. You read that right. It’s a camera that actually shoots 35mm film that you place in the camera itself and then take to be developed and printed. Video after the jump.

While this might not seem to revolutionary to your grandparents, (or even your parents) your kids might not ever know such a time where you actually had to think about the pictures you were taking. You might even run out of film if you shot too haphazardly. But is Vivitar a name we really “know and trust?” And it uses “inexpensive 35mm film.” How much does this amazing piece of technology cost? Well:

Such a small price to pay. Truth be told, 35mm film is nothing. I remember a day when we could shoot still images on this:

Those were the days.
