You may move your Get license to Boris Soundbite

Scott Simmons | 09/18

Current Get phonetic search tool users will be able to crossgrade their license

I missed this bit of news concerning the now defunct Get phonetic dialog search tool from AVC Software. Any current owners of Get will be able to get a free crossgrade upon the release of Boris Soundbite. Soundbite is the future of the phonetic dialog searching technology that came to market after NAB. We love this technology a lot so it’s nice to see this crossgrade happening for those current Get users.

We’ve been following this story since news broke that Get was suddenly no longer available for purchase. Word came along that Boris was going to be marketing this product and the new Boris Soundbite was born.

Here’s the specific details from the AV3 Software website:

AV3 are no longer distributing ‘Get’ so we wanted to give you the following important information:

We are no longer able activate or de-activate Get licenses. Your license will continue to operate unless you need to do one of the following: move the application to another workstation, replace or reformat the hard drive on the currently activated machine. But please read on.

The Nexidia technology that powered ‘Get’ is now being developed and marketed by Boris as Boris Soundbite, more details are available here: http://www.borisfx.com/press/Soundbite.php

AV3 Software will distribute Boris Soundbite along with all the other Boris products.

By e-mailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and including proof of your purchase of AV3 Get Boris FX will crossgrade existing AV3 Get license(s) to Soundbite at no cost.

We apologize if this has caused any confusion, but assure you that you will be able to continue to use the phenomenal audio search toolset you have become used to.

I’m glad that AV3 Software, Boris and Nexidia were able to work out such a deal. It means AV3 doesn’t have to limp along and spend resources trying to support software they no longer sell and customers get to keep using this tool into the future without having to buy a new product. It’s not the customer’s fault the marketing deal with AV3 didn’t work out as planned.

The Boris FX site also says something similar:

Owners of “AV3 Get for Final Cut Pro” will be eligible for a free upgrade to Soundbite. For more information, please contact Boris FX at info @ borisfx.com or +1.617.451.9900.

The Boris site also says this: All Soundbite users will be eligible for a free update to a forthcoming version that supports Final Cut Pro X. That’s good to hear. Now let’s get together and get this thing working for Premiere Pro!
