Fun stuff for your edit suite

From various points in the Editblog archives

By Scott Simmons | February 15, 2010

If you have your own edit suite then you might already have the aeron chair or a Wacom graphics tablet or a fancy eCinemas display. But what you might not have are some of these little kick-knacks that make the edit suite home. I'm sure there are others. Place some links in the comments below if you have your own favorites.

St. Clare - The Patron Saint of Television

How did she come to be the Patron Saint of Television? From Catholic-forum.com: Toward the end of her life, when she was too ill to attend Mass, an image of the service would display on the wall of her cell; thus her patronage of television.

Get your own St. Clare figurine to watch over all things non-linear. If you're doing only features then… you might just be out of luck. Grab one here for $4.95. To read about Saint Clare and other cool patron saints like the Patron Saint of the Internet and the Patron Saint of Alcoholics check out this BBC article. I have no idea how many of these are true but if it's on the Internet and it's got a plastic novelty toy then it can't be all bad!

The Directors Edition Digital Alarm Clock From China. Well it's about a month or two too late for the perfect Christmas gift for that filmmaker in your life but if they've got a birthday coming up then this just might be the perfect gift!

Want to dress up your edit suite and/or know exactly how late you are working or how close to a deadline you are? All in old-school analog style? Then this color bar clock might be just the thing!

Yep, a media offline mousepad. And some cool t-shirts there too.

And who could forget the DVD Rewinder. I wonder what the online video equivalent today would be?

Instead of St. Clare, I have a small statue of a gargoyle that sits on top of my computer tower. Gargoyles were often portrayed on midevil churches on the towers to ward off evil spirits. Mine guards my computer from bugs, viruses, and bad karma. They come in many shapes, sizes, and forms and I’m sure you can find them on the internet. Hey, it works for me.

I’m betting I could sell a few of my clients a DVD rewinder…

Bought some of these fun/cheap disc dispensers and love them.  Blue for DVD and Orange for CD-ROM.
