In case you are unfamiliar, the AMP Project (Accelerated Mobile Pages Project) is an open source initiative that came out of discussions between publishers and technology companies about the need to improve the entire mobile content ecosystem for everyone – publishers, consumer platforms, content creators and consumers. I implemented it a week ago with three of my websites. It took less than two minutes to install, and it has already produced additional traffic.

Why was it so simple for me to implement AMP in my websites in under 2 minutes each?
The three websites where I installed AMP (AllanTépper.com, AllanTépper.soy and CapicúaFM.com) use a self-hosted installation of WordPress, the leading CMS (Content Management System) used by organizations like Bloomberg Professional, Canada.com, Glamour (Italy), Group Renault, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Latina.pe (Perú), Mercedes Benz, New York Post, Sony Music, TeleCrunch, The Herald Sun (Australia), The New York Times Company, The San Francisco Examiner, The Walt Disney Company, Time Inc., Toyota Motors Brasil (with an s), Variety, and of March 2016, ProVIdeo Coalition magazine too! Ever since its birth in 2008, many of the the independent writers here at ProVideo Coalition have been wishing for WordPress, and this wish has thankfully been fulfilled by Moviola, the new owner of ProVideo Coalition. Since Automattic (with a double t, the people behind both WordPress.com and WordPress.org, the latter being the code source for self-hosted WordPress sites) are the same people who created the free AMP Project plugin for WordPress. It was as simple as clicking once to install it, and once to activate it, and voilà, my websites are now AMPed! I have already received additional traffic, since AMPed web pages are even faster than what my pages were before, which means that Google search results favor AMPed pages in search results. As content consumers become used to seeing the AMP tag, they will also associate it with a faster experience, so they’ll likely be more likely to click on other results with the AMP tag in the future.
If your website is not based on WordPress, it might take you a little longer —or be more difficult to implement. Visit ampproject.org for more information. Publishers like Google, Pintrest, Twitter, LinkedIn,Vox, The New York Times, The Guardian, Globo and I have already AMPed our websites.
