Hmm, the blackmagic thing is super weird, as I have an M2 Mac Studio, and an UltraStudio 4K attached via a thunderbolt adapter (though also though a OWC Thunderbolt 3/4 Hub, and after installing Desktop Video 14.2.1 my UltraStudio Immediately shows up. And I checked Premiere and it plays out just fine. I didn’t do the terminal hack or anything really, but it is just working for me.

That’s of course the odd part. Some people encounter an issue and others don’t. I’m sure they might be other things impacting this. For example, interaction with other apps or how you have your system, accounts, and privacy set.

I recently had the same issue with an UltraStudio. It worked fine with my iMac Pro, but didn’t work at all with my M1 laptop. I ended up buying a new UltraStudio Monitor 3G. I’m sad that this iMac Pro is going out to pasture, I really wish they would have kept Target Mode around so that I could still use the monitor with a Mac Studio.

Well, the iMac Pro is not out to pasture yet. Maybe in a year. It’s still compatible with current software and macOS versions. However, some apps take advantage of M-based features, which won’t show up on any Intel Mac. For example, Logic Pro has certain functions that only exist on an Apple Silicon Mac.

The Film Impact transition plugins have now been updated and the proper installer should be in your Creative Cloud account. I have run into some other apps that require a paid upgrade to be compatible with macOS. One of these is Rogue Amoeba’s Audio Hijack utility.
