Zaxcom announced that its new ZaxNet signal distribution software platform is now available for free download to all users of current Zaxcom audio recording hardware. ZaxNet provides a 2.4 GHz RF network for distributing remote control signals, timecode, IFB audio, and metadata – all from a single system for greater simplicity and ease of use in professional audio production settings.
“Our ZaxNet software platform wirelessly links a number of different audio technologies to create a single, integrated system that allows production teams to replay and remix audio directly from their transmitters. In effect, ZaxNet forms a virtual playback and rerecord system with the audio technologies our customers already own,” said Glenn Sanders, Zaxcom’s president. “Now Zaxcom users can link their Deva or Fusion audio recorders/mixers to Zaxcom Digital Wireless systems, encrypted IFB receivers, and compatible digital slates for streamlined audio recording and metadata distribution.”
The ZaxNet system incorporates a number of Zaxcom products. A Deva or Fusion system first generates the ZaxNet signal, which is then broadcast via a Zaxcom IFB100 transmitter at 2.4 GHz. The IFB audio, timecode, metadata, and remote control commands are then received by Zaxcom TRX-series digital wireless transceivers or the company’s new ERX1 or ERX1TCD encrypted IFB bodypack receivers.
Users who don’t own a Deva or Fusion system and would simply like to remotely control transmitter gain and monitor mix can still use ZaxNet by connecting a Mix-8 and an IFB100 for remote signal transmission. ZaxNet is available now as a free download via Zaxcom’s Web site at http://www.zaxcom.com/support_software_updates.htm.
For a demonstration of the ZaxNet system and its integration with a full range of Zaxcom audio systems, visit the company at the 2010 NAB Show, booth C154. Additional information about Zaxcom audio systems is available at www.zaxcom.com.
