Cinnafilm and ARRI announce collaboratively that ARRI will be providing Relativity Texture Control software (version 1.4.x) solutions to its ARRISCAN™ and ARRILASER™ customers, packaging Cinnafilm’s world-class noise management, grain modeling and defect removal technologies; along with upgrade and enhancement bundles for ARRI’s Academy Award-winning film scanners and recorders. Cinnafilm will continue to expand its Pixel Strings™ GPU-based technology under the Dark Energy™ software brand, selling version 2.0 of its professional optimization, conversion, and grain simulation products alongside new plugin offerings directly and through its resellers. Cinnafilm will also continue to provide technical support to ARRI’s Relativity 1.4.x product for a period of two years, as well as an upgrade path to the Dark Energy variant for ARRI customers. Cinnafilm is also signed on to add ARRIRAW capability to its Dark Energy product line by yearend.
From Glenn Kennel, President of ARRI US.; “ARRI partnered with Cinnafilm to bring the superior image quality and GPU-enhanced performance of its texture control and grain modeling algorithms to film postproduction customers. We are confident that it remains the very best grain management technology on the market. We will focus our efforts on supporting our existing customer base.”
According to Lance Maurer, CEO of Cinnafilm; “Cinnafilm has worked very hard since this partnership began to assure its technology matched the visual integrity ARRI has always offered its customers. As the landscape of media and post changes, however, it is essential to adapt our technology into new platforms, applications, and partnerships while remaining strong allies with current ones. We remain focused on supporting the ARRI client base while forging ahead with new ideas and applications for our unparalleled Pixel Strings engine. Dark Energy software is getting stronger and more capable as GPU technologies evolve, and soon we will announce several powerful applications as plugin variants as well as an upgraded version of our flagship product. Look for a strong showing by Cinnafilm at IBC this year.”
