There is a simple rule to participate in this cinematography competition: you need to grade your film with Film Convert, a software said to convert your digital footage in the timeless and romantic look of analog film. If you do not own the program, it does not matter: you can download a trial version and use it to grade your film and enter the competition.
Once you’ve graded your film, you just need to use the words Film Convert in the video description and upload the footage to YouTube or Vimeo. You do not need to shoot a film on purpose for the competition, meaning you can go back to your archive and choose your best work to participate. One important note to remember: video length should be between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. And you can enter more than once.
Videos must be submitted until the 14th October 2014. Voting takes place from the 15th until 28th October and the final winner will be announced on the 4th November 2014. Videos will be judged on the following criteria:
- Embraces the look of film & cinematography
- Concept and creative direction
- Captivating imagery
The first place winner get $2000 USD, with $1000 for the second place and $500 for the third place, all chosen by the Film Convert Team. The Top 10 are chosen by popular vote and all receive a Film Convert software bundle worth $299.
