I stopped back by the Filmlight tent on the last day of NAB to grab a quick iPhone video demo of Baeslight for FCP at work. After I posted the piece about this plug-in on Monday Filmlight announced that they were developing Baselight for Nuke which continues in that idea of Baselight everywhere. At least everywhere in the post-production pipeline. Baselight for Nuke will be a next step.
It was dark in the Baselight tent but you can get an idea of the Baselight for FCP plug-in. Martin the Baselight demo guy says availability of this plug-in around September. Of course we all know that FCP X is going to drop in June. Like most all 3rd party developers, Filmlight doesn’t know anything about developing for FCP X so my bet is they are going to be moving forward rather aggressively with other applications. That and there will probably still be a lot of FCP 7 installs that will continue to be used long after FCP X hits the market.
Please ignore the pops in the audio at the beginning.
