HOLLYWOOD, Calif., April 20, 2011 -Advanced Digital Services (ADS) today announced the appointment of Thomas Engdahl as president and CEO. Engdahl, a 30-year veteran of telecommunications, cable, content and video delivery, will lead the company’s technology innovation and expansion as it seizes new opportunities in media distribution and management. ADS, which commands a significant market share in media distribution, transcoding, archival to tape, and digital media storage, will look to Engdahl to drive technology and market leadership at a time when ADS is poised for unprecedented growth.
Engdahl assumes the CEO role as the media industry reaches an inflection point, with technologies such as high definition (HD), 3D video, and viewer-customized content dominating discussions of media and entertainment industry expansion and diversification. Engdahl’s 31-year career as president of media and communications companies as diverse as Comcast, Radiance, Alloptic, Alopa Networks, Pathfire and Kasenna is expected to help ADS at a time when the media industry is witnessing explosive growth, with much of that growth focused on the acceptance and proliferation of digital media.
“As a provider of services to major media and production companies, ADS is known for its operational excellence and outstanding customer service,” said Andy McIntyre, chairman of ADS. “That’s a tribute to the talent, vision and motivation of our staff, who have helped move ADS from a regional provider to a national leader in both traditional and new media. But the media industry is evolving rapidly, and so are we. That’s why I’m delighted to welcome Tom Engdahl as our guide in seizing the many opportunities in front of us.”
“This is an exciting time to join ADS,” said Engdahl. “ADS has an unparalleled reputation for customer satisfaction, driven by the simple principle of delivering on our promises. With opportunities for innovation at an all-time high, we recognize that innovation is a key to our continued growth and industry leadership.”
