COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Reynolds Journalism Insitute presents RJInnovation Week April 25-29 in Columbia, Mo. RJI’s third annual end-of-the-year event will include a combination of symposiums, presentations and research from Randy Smith and the Center for the Digital Globe (CDiG), Roger Fidler and the Digital Publishing Alliance (DPA), Innovation Chair Mike Jenner and several of our current and previous Donald W. Reynolds Fellows. In addition to the innovation events, RJI will announce and welcome the 2011-2012 class of Donald W. Reynolds Fellows during Innovation Week.

MONDAY IDEAS: Business models for the future

CDiG will start off Monday with a Symposium: Solving Journalism’s Business Problems Today. Working with the following professionals, student teams will present their ideas for solving practical issues facing the industry.

Tuesday’s agenda begins with a keynote by Ken Doctor, author of “Newsonomics” followed by research findings and reports from:

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY

RESEARCH: Opportunities and early lessons –
from the Donald W. Reynolds Fellows

Wednesday morning, 2008-2009 Reynolds Fellow Bill Densmore will give a final presentation of his continued project: “From Paper to Persona: A Research/Next Steps Discussion.”

Following Densmore’s presentation, come celebrate the launch of RJI’s new and improved rjionline.org with a reception in 200-A, Lambert Seminar Room. Refreshments will be provided.

Thursday, the current Reynolds Fellows will give presentations on the projects they’ve been working on this year. The 2010-2011 class of Fellows and their projects are:

The lunch session on Thursday will be a Youth and Young Adult (YAYA) Research Update from former Fellows Stephanie Padgett and Margaret Duffy.

SOLUTIONS: Pathways to solutions with past Fellows

The last day of the event will include a panel discussion of past Fellows to hear about their experiences and success achieved since their Fellowships with RJI. Returning Fellows include : Jacqui Banaszynski, Clyde Bentley, Bill Densmore, Mike Fancher, Michele McLellan, Jen Reeves and Michael Skoler.
