There's no denying that Canon's new flagship, the EOS-1D X is a complex beast. It shares a lot of features with the EOS 5D Mark III that I have been using for a few months now and I will tell you that it is the only camera where I've felt like I have to read the manual. There are so many new features and so much customization available that it's simply not intuitive, even for long time Canon users like myself. The complex AF system requires its own separate manual alone!
Canon have take a new approach to this issue with the creation of approximately 20 new videos in the learning center that are designed to be played back on the camera itself. All you need to do is dust of some old, smaller capacity memory cards that you've previously deemed too small for use in the 18MP , 11fps beast, and load these videos onto them. Now when you travel for an assignment and you can't figure something out, you'll have some help right there with you. Just a couple of weeks ago I was away on a trip without the manual and without an internet connection. I couldn't remember for the life of me how to assign a preset AF point to the DOF preview button, these videos would have been helpful then !
