Canto’s Cumulus integrates with QPS 7
Canto and Quark on Wednesday announced an integration between the Canto Cumulus digital asset management system and the newly announced Quark Publishing System 7 (announced earlier this week). QPS 7 work groups can use XMP and IPTC legacy and core metadata searches to find any image, text element or other asset as well as search the full text contents of documents created in QuarkXPress, QuarkCopyDesk and Microsoft Word. Canto’s Cumulus provides QPS 7 work groups a central repository from which to access and store assets using check-in/out, version control, and a web-based “portal” view.
Assets cataloged in Cumulus can be assigned to new QPS 7 projects at any time, while Cumulus automation ensures that only assets available by license are available for layout.Cumulus can also easily create PDF or JPEG versions of Quark projects, layouts or individual pages, enabling fast Web publishing with only a few mouse-clicks. Cumulus can even create these files automatically, so an art director can see hourly JPEG renders of a layout in progress, while the layout artist remains focused on design.
Reports can be generated from within Cumulus to list all assets used in a QPS 7 project, and include contact, fee and other information necessary to ensure contributors are paid.
“The integration of Canto Cumulus with QPS 7 demonstrates how easy it is to connect QPS 7 to other systems and software components,” Quark representatives said. “Cumulus is an excellent and easy-to-use digital asset management system, and we appreciate that our QuarkAlliance partner, Canto, delivers with Cumulus additional functionality to our QPS 7 customers, which will help them leverage existing resources and assets even more.”
