Avocoda today announced the immediate release of cineXML – the offline to online workflow tool for Avid editing products and REDCINE.
cineXML provides a smooth Red workflow for Avid Media Composer and is available for both Windows Vista and Mac OS X Leopard.
It supports multi-layer timelines with effects and timewarps by utilising the new XML export feature in Avid FilmScribe™.
REDCINE from Red Digital Cinema Company is a free software for Mac and PC which is used to convert the Red files to industry standard formats like DPX and QuickTime.
The application does not directly support importing pull lists from editing applications to render just what is being used in the final program.
cineXML, a third party tool for Mac and PC, removes this limitation for Avid editing products.
After the offline edit an XML from Avid FilmScribe™ is used by cineXML to extract metadata from the Red media files to generate a pull list for REDCINE.
This enables rendering of just the footage used with optional handles for the online session.
cineXML scans the Red R3D media before generating the REDCINE project file allowing Red media files to be transferred to a different storage subsystem than the one used for the offline edit.
Another benefit is the ability to use either REDrushes or MetaCheater to prepare the footage for the Avid offline edit.
Use either an Avid application for online with DNxHD Quicktimes and a corresponding ALE or render DPX files in REDCINE to conform using traditional film workflows in DI environments for film finishing or high end commercial productions.
The ALE export from cineXML allows metadata to be merged after rendering within the Avid editing products. The sequence can then be relinked to high resolution media in Avid DS, Symphony or Media Composer.
